Nutrition and Gut Health

Our GI tract is a place of complex communication between many body systems. Here, our nervous system, immune system, gastrointestinal system, endocrine (hormone) system, and our vast microbiome are constantly exchanging signals and influencing one another. Therefore, what happens in the gut—what kinds of foods we eat, how well we digest them, and the diversity of our microbiome— is fundamental to our mental and physical health.

Working with Me: What to Expect

I listen.

We begin with a 1.5-hour intake where we review your health history and concerns. I listen, ask questions, and don’t interrupt as you unfold your health story.

My approach is holistic, which means that we will review multiple aspects of your health, including nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress management.

We Make a Plan.

Together, we make a plan. This begins with a wellness vision, followed by three-month goals and weekly actions that help you move towards that vision. We will make sure our plan aligns with information from other health providers, including medications and test results. A good plan is one that is coordinated, doable and feels right to you.

We Implement it Together, Step by Step.

This is the heart of our work together. A health plan is not static, but something that must respond to your changing needs. It is accomplished step by step and with commitment. We meet weekly for 45 minute sessions to review progress and set goals. Each week, we build on what works and learn from the challenges. Progress is tangible, real and suited to your life.
